about gcc

Green Collar Careers is a pilot program in partnership with the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC) and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB)

The Green Collar Careers (GC2) program is a new initiative that addresses the labour needs of the emerging green energy industry by preparing today’s youth for tomorrow’s jobs. By bringing students and industry together through engaging and relevant secondary-school co-op placements focused on the green energy industry, the program will help develop a workforce that can fill new (and existing) jobs needed for a sustainable future. It will provide an opportunity for grade 11 and 12 students to better understand their role in the sustainable energy sector while gaining valuable job skills as well as exposure and access to the green energy job market. Students have access to relevant green industry related placements and receive additional support through resources and special workshops facilitated by TREC.
